Robin Butler

Robin Butler is a music educator, flutist and composer from Central Illinois with a Bachelor degree in music composition from Western Illinois University (WIU).  He is currently pursuing his teaching certificate through the University of  West Florida (UWF).  Butler is in his third year of teaching K-5 general music and 4th-8th grade bands at Grand Ridge Grade School.  Under his direction, the music and band programs have grown significantly and the school has undergone a revitalization of the performing arts.  At WIU, Butler held principal flute positions in the top ensembles for the majority of his time there.  Additionally he was a winner in the annual concerto competition his sophomore year.  As a composer, Butler has won various composition competitions across the nation and was named a finalist in numerous prestigious competitions.  Butler, a former student of Sue Gillio, joined the teaching staff at the annual Summer Flute Retreat in 2026.
