Emily Maze, French Horn
Emily Maze is passionate about music, art, and nature. As the youngest of three, she often tagged along to her older siblings’ piano lessons and fell in love with the sound. She had to wait until she turned five before Mrs. Rogal would take her on as a student. In 5th grade, she picked up the French horn for its cool look and warm, mellow tone. She attended LaSalle-Peru High School, where she took part in District #2 ILMEA and earned All-State honors. Emily went on to Western Illinois University as a music major, studying with Dr. Faust and performing in the wind ensemble and orchestra. She later graduated with a degree in Parks and Recreation. Since 2020, she’s been a member of the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra and occasionally plays with the Peru and Spring Valley Municipal bands. She is an assistant at the North Central Illinois ARTworks gallery and is a freelance artist.
